Camping Trip

We went camping Friday to Saturday. (June 20-21). It was a blast. We stayed at a campground called Shady Dell above Kamas in the Wasatch Mountains. It is so pretty up there. Jon took us for my birthday. It was fun to have Chris and Jen with us too. When we got up there we got dinner cooking. We had tin foil dinners and corn on the cob. It was yummy. Then we had smores and hot chocolate before bed. I love smores and hot cocoa. They were SO YUMMY! :D

The kids slept pretty well. Ari kept wiggeling out of her bag and ending up sideways on my pillow. So I would put her back in her bag. She finally stayed in her bag when Jon and I flipped the other way. We actually flipped over because the ground was slanted and I don't really like laying on my head. ;) That and since we forgot the pump to blow up the air mattress, I ended up with the valve in my back so when we flipped over it was at the bottom. :) Adam only woke up once because he couldn't find his stuffed snake. But no worries, it was in his sleeping bag "keeping warm so it could sleep." So then Adam just pulled the sleeping bag back over his head and went back to sleep. What a trooper!

The next morning we had Dutch Oven "heart attack" (hashbrowns, sausage, bacon, and cheese...and seasonings) and hot cocoa for breakfast. It was yummy! After we cleaned up breakfast we went fishing at one of the lakes near by. It was pretty. We didn't catch anything but we had lots of fun trying. Adam has gotten to be a pretty good caster, as long as he remembered to let go of the button. ;) We took the hook off so he would get anyone and just let him practice casting. He had a BLAST! Ari on the other hand, got bored really quickly. Not to mention tired and as always...HUNGRY! So we loaded everything up and went back down to clean up camp and roast hot dogs for lunch.

Adam was so excited to get his early birthday present from Chris and Jen...a little baseball glove and ball. He and Jon played catch lots. He liked it so much that we had to take it away at bedtime because he was going to sleep with it. And when he woke up, he had to get it before he could do anything else.

All in all...we had a GREAT time! We got a little sunburned....brought the sunscreen, forgot to apply. :( But even still I know I had a blast and I think everyone else did too! We can't wait to go again! :D

Tamina and the No Good Very Bad Day

Today we shall say was one of those days I should have gotten back in bed and started over. (I knew it was gonna be bad when I thought that exact thought by 9:30 this morning.) Well...Let's see it actually started last night. When our dishwasher flooded the kitchen. So we were cleaning that up then we were going to the Smoot's house so Dad Smoot could look at the Mountaineer with Jon. (It had started squeaking, and we thought it must be the belt...we had heard that sound before!) Well on the way up to my parents (after making a detour to a viewing of one of my friends husbands :( ) the car just died at the intersection on Orchard Drive and 400 North. Well, we called for help to come push our car out of the way and up to the first side street. We decided to leave it until morning since Brigham Street is on the west side of Salt Lake and was closed for the evening. (We didn't want it sitting out where it could possibly get broken into over night.) Then my mom drove us home, with a plan to pick me up in the morning to get a tow truck.

So today...I get up and take a warm shower to get steam to help with this darn cold, right. Well, Ari wakes up and opens the door and lets the steam out. Not a problem...until our over-sensitve fire alarms start going off. It took me about 20 minutes to get them to stop going off, meanwhile Adam wakes up from the alarms and is CRANKY! I tell him to hurry and get dressed so we can go with Grandma to meet the tow truck. Finally after about half hour, he gets dressed and we leave. So we head up toward the car and I start feeling sick...okay pretty normal. I start gagging and gagging. I ask my mom for a bag or anything...nothing. So I end up throwing up all over in my hands , my clothes and the car. So we go up to my mom's so I can clean up before I go meet the tow truck. (who I had called while waiting for Adam to get dressed...) I change into Emily's soccer warm ups and jacket, rinse my hair and head down to meet the tow truck.

When the tow truck arrives, the guy asks me to try starting the car. I do, and it starts up fine. I drive around the little circle and no problems. So he says drive it in, no towing. I was apprehensive and asked about it dying on the way, his reply call for another tow truck. Undecided So I take the car up to my mom's so that someone can follow me in to Brigham Street. Emily and I go pick up my parent's car that I borrowed to go meet the tow truck and then go to wait for the fridge repair man. (Their fridge died and they had to have someone 18 or older to meet the repairman, and my mom was helping with a funeral today...) So we wait for him to come so that we can take the car in. Once he left, and we ate lunch, we loaded everyone up (Alma with me, the kids with Emily) and headed into Salt Lake. As we were driving about North Salt Lake/ Rose Park, the Mountaineer starts to shudder a bit. I'm just praying we make it safe....or that we end up safe waiting for help. Well, yes it died getting off the freeway on the 400 South off ramp. So, I call Jon to come help Alma push me to the side, so that I'm not completely blocking traffic. Alma ends up pushing me, and we wait for a tow truck. The tow truck arrives, loads the Mountaineer and we climb in with Emily to go over to Brigham Street. Jon calls and says he is looking for us, so I told him we had just finished loading up and we are on our way to Brigham Street, andhe can meet us there. We get to Brigham Street get the car all checked in and head home.

So fastforward a few hours...we get home from my mom's after stopping to grab Ari from Emily's car and crackers for me (I was still not feeling well from this morning)and the house TOTALLY stinks. We open the windows to air out the house and Jon goes to do the dishes. However, we find the reason that it flooded yesterday is because the dishwasher isn't draining. So Jon pulls it out and calls the landlord. Jeff came over and helped scrape the dishwasher. (It had hard water/soap build up) They got that all cleaned up and the dishwasher working.

We made dinner, which was yummy. However, just after I turned off the burner, I went to grab something and burned my three knuckles. Yippee!

What a fun day...that doesn't even include the normal, day to day, Adam and Ari messes that we get to clean up too. :(

However, I do want to thank Emily for all her help! She was awesome for helping work through everything. I also need to thank Alma, my mom and Jon! Thanks for helping...here's to a better tomorrow! :P

** Jon commented "It had been a pretty cruddy day and it seems to be the theme for the week. One of the good things about today was that I got to leave work early, except that it was to help with a broken down car and not to have some time off.

Chris came over while Jen had a recital and we ended up buying some hardware to put up a swing in the huge box elder tree in our backyard. The kids are way excited about having a swing in our backyard. :D " **

Site Changes

Hey everyone, sorry we've been remodeling the photo gallery a bit so the pictures haven't been there. They should be there now and we are working on making them easier to look through. We are adding folders so you can look through specific events/dates instead of all the pictures. We hope that this makes it easier to view pictures you haven't seen yet easier or to find the pictures you are looking for easier too. Anyway...enjoy! (We are still finishing it up...but we have added some of Adam's birthday in its own folder.)

The Quilt is Finished!

Hey I know it has taken awhile, but I finally finished the king size jean quilt on Friday. We are so happy to have it done. It is really nice.

** Jon commented "I love this quilt. I forgot how nice it is to have a jean quilt and the best thing about this is that even if Tamina hogs the quilt, there is tons left over for me. ;) Thanks for all of the hard work!" **

Adam's Mosquito Bite

Thursday night Adam got a mosquito bite. I didn't think much of it. Sieben had caught it and killed it. The next morning it was a little swollen around it as though he had itched it throughout the night. However as the day progressed his whole right side of his face swelled up. We gave him benadryl but it didn't help. So Friday night we took him to the instacare to make sure that nothing else was wrong. Lucky for Adam nothing else was wrong. It was a large, topical reaction to the bite. However we would just have to wait it out. Poor Adam was embarassed by his face. The next day, Saturday, he woke up and his eye was swollen shut. We continued the benadryl and added motrin as directed by the doctor at the instacare. Unfortunately for Adam we had extended Morgan family pictures that day. So we tried to put him so that his left side showed more than his right. He didn't want pictures but we made it through...thanks to the ice cream after! Anyway...Sunday it started to go down and though it is still a little swollen it looks A LOT better! So watch out for those mosquitos this year...they're buggers. But then aren't they always? :|
